Management and Human Relations in Nikolai Gogol’s “The Government Inspector”

Abstract

The concept of human relations has maintained its freshness as a need arising from the need for socialization since the existence of human beings. This need has gained more importance for organizations whose main element is human beings and has managed to become the subject of management approaches. The Government Inspector, dated 1836, which is considered one of the important works of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol, is a theater work formed under the influence of the realism movement of its period. The work's focus on social class, power and distorted human relations is a cornerstone of Critical Theory, an approach to management. The aim of this study is to make use of the narrative genre in understanding human relations, to examine the issues of bureaucratic corruption and the perception of social segregation within the framework of critical approach, and identify similar points between the play and Critical Theory. Similarities and parallel themes are presented in the findings section of the study. In this qualitative study, "document analysis" was utilized.
