Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the institutional initiatives implemented by universities to facilitate the socio-cultural adaptation of international students. The research employed a case study design, a qualitative research approach, with a study group comprising 15-unit supervisors/managers selected through maximum diversity sampling, a purposeful sampling method. Data were collected via interviews, and the subsequent analysis utilized the content analysis method. Data were interpreted in relation to the pertinent literature. The findings revealed a deficiency in personnel dedicated to addressing the needs of international students in international student offices. Furthermore, the results indicated that minimal activities were conducted to support international students’ sociocultural adaptation processes. Consequently, Turkish higher education institutions need to enhance the quantity and quality of their practices and institutional arrangements to facilitate the integration of international students.
